A Room of My Own – Finding Inspiration with Poster Store
A woman must have money and a room of her own if she is to write fiction.
Virginia Woolf
Deep in my soul I’ve always felt like a “writer.” Does that make me sound pretentious? Alas, it’s the truth and I’m sticking to it!
Whether I’m writing fiction or pieces for this blog, though, I’m almost always writing something. (And when I’m not, I’m at least thinking of new things to write.) Which brings me to our dear friend, Virginia Woolf and her notion that, in order to write, a woman must have a room of her own. Sure, she might have meant it metaphorically speaking, but I think there’s a lot to be said for having your own space in order to create.
So, when I was given the opportunity to collaborate with Poster store, it was the perfect chance for me to curate a writing room of my own.
More about Poster Store
Poster Store is a Swedish company with a plethora of posters, prints, and frames – everything you need to up your home decor game.
They have a huge selection of wall art and their Scandinavian designs are perfect for achieving a clean, beautiful, and minimalist space. Plus, their products are beyond affordable! You could create your very own gallery wall for less than $200!
Something that also really stood out to me was the quality of the paper. I don’t know about you, but when I heard the word ‘poster,’ I thought of the type of posters I used to hang on my wall as a teenager. But, I was pleasantly surprised when my order came in – everything is printed on thick, high quality, and sustainably produced paper (so, you know, you’re helping the world too.)
The only downside is that they have a HUGE selection. I’m talking HUGE. MASSIVE. So many different options to choose from! And there are new posters released every Tuesday. But, because of that, there’s something for everyone.
Which, of course, brings me back to me ?

Creating a Room of My Own
For me, I like to have a few basics on hand whenever I’m writing: coffee (always!), a comfy place to sit, and something beautiful to look at – something so that when I take my eyes off the computer screen, I don’t just see a boring blank wall.
Like I said before, Poster Store has a huge selection of prints with themes ranging from nature to fashion – which is what I gravitated towards.
I find inspiration in beauty, so I went with black and white fashion prints that, in some way, spoke to me.
I absolutely fell in love with the Vintage Camera Girl Poster, a print of a scantily clad woman taking a photo – it just immediately struck me as something I wanted in my writing room! Along with her, I wanted something softer, more elegant so I chose a peaceful print of a woman reading.
And, as a not-so-secret admirer of celebrity culture, I also added in some prints of my favorite inspirational figures – Marilyn Monroe, Kurt Cobain (hey, I find him beautiful!) and Brigitte Bardot.
I do a lot of my actual writing in my room, so I wanted to hang my prints either over my bed or near my bedroom bookshelf, which is what I ended up doing.
A Room of Her Own
As beautiful and inspirational as I find Marilyn, she’s not exactly the best choice for a nursery.
I mean, I suppose she could be… but I wanted to stay on brand with the Boho greenery theme I’ve got.
So, I curated a mini gallery wall fit for a little one with these insanely adorable furry friends!
Yep, there’s a whole section of prints and posters for kids – with options for cute and cuddly baby decor, Harry Potter fans, cheeky Beyoncé references, and educational prints.
There are so many options available for different ages, genders, and styles, but I picked Elephant Friend and Hedgehog Friend because they matched perfectly with the dark green and rose color scheme.

Oh nice! I’m sure those will be stunning!
I have always loved the way that a gallery wall really adds to the aesthetic of any space. It’s something that I have been considering doing when we move into our new house in the next few months. While I have a lot of great photographs that I could have printed on canvas to hang, I am going to check out the options that they have to complement them and fill out the space better.
I think so too! I especially love how the gallery wall style looks in a hallway or entry-way (I already have family photos there though otherwise I’d have done it in that space!) I hope you find something great that you love – I think one thing I really liked about Poster Store was how you can really create a cohesive look with the different styles and categories. I’m a huge fan of black and white, but they also had a lot of options for neutral or softer color-schemes.
A place to write is one thing that adds motivation and worth infesting in. I likes the idea that they have options for everybody so their audience is big. I like a lot of different elements and would knownonce I see it. But iliked that it covers for kids options too and movie characters and celebrities. Good one. Xx

Yes, me too! I’m a shameless lover of all things Celebrity!
I’m listening to the posterstore for the first time but it seems really nice! But I really feel that printing a room is an awesome way to be surrounded by the affirmations we wanted to! It’s an amazing post, Katie. Thank you so much for sharing!
I love these! Especially the ones in the nursery, they are super cute. Art makes a room your own for sure.
Yes, that’s so true! I’ve always been a fan of having really neutral walls and furniture and then plastering beautiful pieces everywhere.
I’ve heard great things about posterstore and I love the prints that you chose! You can really make a room completely your own with different styles of prints!
Thank you! I was very pleasantly surprised by how nice the prints were – the paper is really thick and I honestly was not expecting that so it was really nice when it came in!
Such a great post. These posters really look beautiful. Thank you for sharing this post.

Thank you so much!
Where do I start? There are so many gorgeous pictures to choose from. I’ve fallen in love with the nature and texture pictures, there’s so much options in each category you can easily create your own unique combination. It’s going take me a bit of time to make a final decision. ?
Haha, I know right! I probably spent a good several hours looking through everything because of how many really great prints they had to choose from. So many options! (That’s why I said it was the only downside, LOL)
The prints you chose are lovely! Very vintage but classic. When it comes to decor I love bright, simple items and it seems Poster Store has some for me!
Thanks for sharing your gallery wall.

Yes, they definitely do! It’s so funny because when it comes to Art (like pottery or paintings) I really gravitate towards super bright and eccentric pieces, but I’m a fan of black and white photographs. It’s so weird how everyone has their own taste!
the prints you chose are so gorgeous!! i absolutely love using posters to decorate my bedroom! thank you for sharing ♥️

Thank you! I do too, I love having things on my wall. A blank wall is an absolute no for me.
Your selection is so cohesive and timeless. I love the hedgehog print – so fun and cheery, plus I have several hogs who live in my back garden.
I know! Those two were so freakin’ cute that I couldn’t resist. And lucky for me, they happen to match perfectly with the theme!
I love your selection of posters! The first thing I notice when I walk into a room is the wall art. It’s so cool to see everyone’s style and I like how this poster store caters to that. Thanks for sharing!
I’m the same way! I think what a person chooses for decor and art really shows a lot about them, plus its always fun to see how different everyone is in terms of taste and style.
It looks like they have some pretty interesting posters, judging by the images in this post. But do. They have any for mental health and wellbeing, or my personal favourite, for horror and Halloween?
They have a lot of inspirational quotes and posters for mindfulness that are perfect for well-being/mental health. I’m not sure about horror but I saw several Harry Potter themed prints that were cool and could easily be Halloween-themed 🙂
Ooh I love the prints you chose!! And I’m 100% with you on Kurt Cobain ❤ The kids nursery prints are so cute too! You did a great job of you room’s x
Thank you!! KC is one of my all-time favs so I’m glad others see him that way too.
