Blogging tag posts are always fun (at least, they are for me) and it’s a good way for you to get to know me a little better. Assuming that you want to, of course. Totally cool if you don’t! But, for those who do, today’s post is for you because I’m answering the Be Unapologetically You tag.

First off, a big thanks to the tag creator, Izzy Matias for nominating me. If you haven’t read her blog before, definitely give it a read.

If you’re not familiar with these types of posts, the concept is pretty simple. You answer the questions provided around a specific topic, thank the person who tagged you, and proceed to tag others afterwards.

The Unapologetically You tag is all about sharing the things that make you feel happy and inspired, including things you fan-out over. So, keep reading to learn more about the fangirl behind The Dating B.

Be Unapologetically You: The Questions

  1. Introduce yourself and your blog and share a piece of trivia not many people know about you.
  2. What topics do you love geeking out about?
  3. Do you blog about them? Why or why not? If not, would you like to blog about them sometime?
  4. Would you say you’re living life in an unapologetic way? Why or why not? What would your life look like if you weren’t afraid to be unapologetically you?
  5. Share something you fangirl over. (It can be anything; your love of soy candles, a favorite food, a band or an underrated film.) How did you become a fan of this?
  6. What do you love the most about being a fan?
  7. Share a fun or unforgettable fan experience.

Introducing Myself & My Blog (Q1)

I’m Katie (Kate/K), a US-based writer, blogger, and giver of advice. The Dating Bitch started as a relationship blog; a way for me to share personal stories and offer agony-aunt style advice to others. It has since morphed into a lifestyle blog as I realized that there were so many other topics I wanted to delve into.

Still, I decided to keep the name Dating B – partly because the thought of rebranding everything makes me break out in a cold sweat.

Despite writing this blog anonymously, I try to be as open with readers as possible. But, I suppose that means my last name/what I look like is a little known piece of trivia. (And, I’m afraid it shall remain as such.)

Topics I Love to Geek Out Over (Q2 & 3)

There are honestly so many! A few that come to mind first are true crime, celebrity gossip, and books. Of those topics, the only one I really blog about is books. In my Monthly Wrap Up posts, I include a brief review of all the books I read that month.

I’m obsessed with celebrity gossip – I can’t explain why, but it fascinates me beyond belief. I don’t really blog about that specifically, but I’ve definitely mentioned my interest before.

As for true crime, other than writing about why women love true crime and the best YouTube channels, it’s not a topic I want to blog about. I enjoy letting other, more qualified people, discuss it on their platforms.

Am I Living in an Unapologetic Way (Q4)

Sometimes. But, like most people, there are certainly times when I hold back from speaking my mind or putting myself out there. I think almost all writers struggle with imposter syndrome and I’m no different.

Lately, I’ve been working more on freelance writing. But, I definitely find myself hesitating at times to reach out to editors out of fear that I’m not good enough. When I do reach out, I overthink it – worrying that I didn’t express myself well or that I might annoy them if I follow up. I also take rejection more personally than I probably should.

I so admire people who live their life with total confidence and freedom and without caring what others think. I’m not sure I’ll ever fully get there, but I’m working on it!

Something I Fangirl Over (Q5 & 6)

Angelina Jolie – I think she’s amazing, both as an actress and a humanitarian. I love her whole persona.

I’m not sure when exactly this fandom started, but probably when I was a teenager. The first movie I remember seeing her in was Girl, Interrupted, and her performance really struck me as incredible.

And I also remember her wilder moments – the whole Billy Bob thing, the tattoos, the frank openness about her darker side – I just found her fascinating.

An Unforgettable Fan Experience (Q7)

I don’t have a lot of “fan experiences” – I’ve never met a celebrity or anything before. But, I’ve been to several concerts, which is always fun. The atmosphere of being in a crowd of other people who all love the same band or singer as you do is intoxicating in itself.

I Nominate…. You!

Technically, I’m supposed to nominate 5-10 other bloggers for this tag. But, seeing as I just finished nominating 20 beautiful creators for my Badass Bloggers Award, I’m going to leave my nominee slot blank and invite anyone who’s interested to participate!

What do you fan out over? Let me know in the comments below.

xx Katie

Aw thank you too, Katie, for answering my blogging tag. It’s so nice to get to know you better and know what you fangirl about like Angelina Jolie and that you geek out over celebrity gossip, books and true crime. I can definitely relate to dealing with the imposter syndrome, but keep going. I think it’s awesome that you’re put yourself out there and pitching to editors! You’re creating the opportunities for you even if it can be scary. You never know where that opportunity might lead you later on! 🙂 And ooo I love going to concerts. Which one/s are your favorite? 🙂

I honestly love going to any concerts! Outdoor concerts are always fun. For music, I have a wide variety of things I love to listen to from Taylor Swift to Post Malone to Foo Fighters lol.

Let me know your thoughts!
